Mobile Friendliness Site Tester
Exactly eleven days ago, Google made two important announcements on its Webmaster Central Blog regarding an upcoming update on April 21, 2015. The first of the two announcements was that starting April 21, Google will be expanding its use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. So, is your website ready for this update? If not here are some things you can do to get your site ready.
Steps on How to Make Your Site Mobile Friendly
Step 1: Check if you have a mobile-friendly site
You can check your site using this mobile-friendliness tester. I tested a website of this call center company in the Philippines and posted a screenshot of the result below.
As you can see, the mobile-friendliness test tool shows you exactly how a Googlebot would see your website.
Step 2: Search for a responsive design or a mobile-friendly theme
If you are using one of the most, if not the most, popular CMS , use this technical guide for WordPress users. In WordPress, you can either:
- Check if the theme you are currently using has an update available, and if that update is mobile-friendly. Or you can…
- Look for another theme that is mobile-friendly and change your site’s theme
Once you’re satisified with the theme you’ve chosen, check your site’s page speed performance.
Step 3: Do a final check if you have a mobile friendly site
Go back to using the mobile-friendliness tester and check your website. What you want to see in the test result is this prompt.
